In the first full length English biography of Berengaria of Navarre, Gabrielle Storey brings to the fore previously unexamined evidence locating Berengaria’s activities in her widowhood, her ‘lost’ years between 1199-1204, and provides an accessible work of one of England’s forgotten queens. Caught between her crusading husband Richard I and dominant mother-in-law Eleanor of Aquitaine, this biography brings Berengaria to life for the 21st century reader.
